New Neighbors move into Love Library

 

 

The UNL Libraries welcome new neighbors: Education Abroad & International Engagement; the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center(Explore Center); and First-Year Experience and Transition Programs as they move into Room 127 of Love Library South. All offices move in on or by August 12.

The UNL Libraries are continuing to enhance the look and functionality of our spaces. Love South has a new word cloud to inform people of the wide variety of services available...come by and check them out!

Tricked Out Group Study Room

Room 207A in Love North has been transformed with comfy chairs and adjustable tables. An oversized monitor hangs on one wall waiting for a laptop to be connected. All furniture is on wheels. Practice a presentation in front of classmates or sit back and watch a movie together. Check out the key to this room or any group study room at Media Services (Room 221), Love Library South.

Work in Love South Rm 127 almost complete

While it still may look chaotic from the photos, the work on offices in Room 127 of Love Library South is almost done. The finishing touches to the carpet with bright red square randomly placed and colorful new furniture says we are getting ready to open for business.  By the time school starts on August 26, staff from the ExploratoryExploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center, Education Abroad & International Engagement, and the First-Year Experience and Transition Programs will be settling in.

 

The replacement of the carpet in Love South’s lobby has now been completed as well.

July 18 Update from Dean:

Carpeting will begin on Tuesday July 23, starting with the lobby/circ area and west side of the building, including the LIR and ESC rooms. This is to ensure the LIR and ESC rooms will be available for use beginning on Tuesday July 30.

Room 127 update

The reconstruction of room 127 is well underway with most of the painting completed, some of the electrical having been installed, new carpet arriving, and as you can see the new sound deadening ceiling tiles are being installed. All in all, The Explore Center, the First Year Experience and Transitions Program, Education Abroad spaces will greatly enhance Love Library south!

 

Check-Out & Go!

Love Library has just installed a new self check-out station at the Love South Circulation desk.  It is easy to use with a touch screen monitor and easy to follow instructions.  All you need is your UNL ID and some books. 

 

Other things the self check-out station allows you to do:

• view your fines
• renews any items you have already checked out   

So skip the long line at the circulation desk and check out your own books!

Student-centered services coming to Love Library!

In partnership with the Office of Academic Affairs, UNL Libraries is excited to announce valuable student services moving into the Libraries! The Education Abroad Office, the Explore Center, and the Office of First-Year Experience are scheduled to move into Love Library South Room 127 and be open for services in Fall 2013. Students will have the opportunity to explore more than just library resources about traveling abroad, areas of study, professional paths, and much more. 

Currently a study space known as the "Talk Zone," room 127 will close on May 5 in order for renovations to commence. There will be alternative study space available on the second floor of Love Library South for our students.
